Sundays on Cycle Connects Diaspora and Team India

The Sundays on Cycle initiative reached Nagoya, Japan, on 20 September 2026. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led its 91st edition at Meijō Park. The Indian diaspora gathered to support the Indian contingent at the Asian Games 2026.

Dr. Mandaviya interacted with participants and appreciated their enthusiasm. He said more than 500 young Indian athletes were participating in the Games. He also highlighted the diaspora’s efforts to encourage the athletes.

The event promoted people-to-people connections through sports. It also reinforced the message of fitness and healthy living under the Fit India Movement.

Sundays on Cycle Promotes Fitness

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organises the initiative with the Cycling Federation of India, Raahgiri Foundation and MY Bharat. The cycling drive takes place across States and Union Territories.

The programme also operates through SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence, SAI Training Centres, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence and Khelo India Centres.

More than 6,000 NAMO Fit India clubs organise the cycling initiative every week across the country. The programme therefore combines physical activity with community participation.

Dr. Mandaviya is in Nagoya for the Asian Games. During his visit, he is interacting with Indian athletes, officials and members of the Indian diaspora.

The Sundays on Cycle event in Nagoya brought together fitness, community participation and support for Indian athletes. It also highlighted the role of the Indian diaspora in encouraging Team India during the continental sporting event.
