INS Trishul Egypt: Port Call at Alexandria

INS Trishul Egypt Port Call

The INS Trishul Egypt deployment included a port call at Alexandria from 14 to 17 September 2026. The Indian Navy’s guided missile frigate received a warm welcome, with Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer escorting it on arrival at Alexandria Harbour.

The Commanding Officer and crew of INS Trishul paid homage to soldiers of the two World Wars at the Chatby War Memorial. The memorial contains 12 burials and records the names of 19 Indian soldiers who died in ships sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Naval Cooperation with Egypt

India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K Reddy, visited INS Trishul and interacted with the crew. During the interaction, he highlighted the importance of the Indian Navy’s presence in the region.

INS Trishul also conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Egyptian Navy Ship ENS Bernees. The exercise included coordinated manoeuvring drills, communication exercises and approaches for replenishment at sea.

The PASSEX provided personnel from both navies an opportunity to exchange professional expertise. It also supported greater interoperability between the Indian and Egyptian naval forces.

The port call and PASSEX reinforced the longstanding relationship between the two navies. The engagement also contributed to strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Egypt.
