The 20th Rozgar Mela marked a recruitment milestone as Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth via video conferencing. He said young people have a key role in building a developed and self-reliant India by 2047.
Youth, Skills and New Employment
He highlighted global confidence in Indian innovators, entrepreneurs and skilled youth. Free Trade Agreements with around 40 countries are opening new markets, partnerships and career opportunities for young people.
He also stressed continuous skilling. He cited the National Education Policy, Skill India Mission, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and apprenticeship initiatives. Under PM-SETU, 1,000 government ITIs are being modernised with an investment of ₹60,000 crore with industry participation.
India is now the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, according to the address. Nearly half of recognised startups are based in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, highlighting smaller towns’ growing role in entrepreneurship and job creation.
Employment, Growth and Citizen Service
The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana is a ₹1 lakh crore initiative aimed at bringing two crore youth into the formal workforce for the first time. First-time employees can receive incentives of up to ₹15,000, while employers also receive support for creating new jobs.
He also referred to 7.8% economic growth and a 12% rise in investment in the first quarter. He urged officials to support reforms, simplify processes and encourage innovation.
The 20th Rozgar Mela address also focused on citizen-centric administration. Mission Karmayogi supports continuous learning and technology adoption. The Karmayogi Prarambh module supports new entrants, while 1.7 crore employees are already on the iGOT platform. He urged officials to follow “Nagrik Devo Bhava” and make citizens’ lives easier through honest, sensitive service.
