PM Mementos Auction Highlights Gujarat’s Heritage

The PM Mementos Auction 2026 features Gujarat’s cultural heritage, traditional crafts and modern achievements. The collection forms part of the 8th edition, which began on 17 September 2026.

The Gujarat section includes an architectural model of the 17th-century Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple at Vadnagar. It also features sporting memorabilia from table tennis player Manav Thakkar, who has represented India internationally.

Traditional Art and Modern Innovation

The collection includes Mata-ni-Pachedi – Tree of Life, a traditional textile painting associated with Gujarat. A framed Pithora painting represents the artistic traditions of the Rathwa, Bhil and Bhilala communities.

Another notable item combines heritage with technology. The first solar tile with engraved glass of the Modhera Sun Temple reflects Gujarat’s architectural heritage alongside solar-energy innovation.

Other mementos include representations of the Ambaji, Somnath and Dwarkadhish temples. The collection also features a Bhujodi shawl, Lippan art, an AIIMS Rajkot replica and a wooden model of the Adalaj Stepwell.

The 8th edition offers 1,498 mementos from across India. The Ministry of Culture organises the auction through the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.

The proceeds support the Namami Gange Programme, which focuses on conserving and rejuvenating the River Ganga and its ecosystem. Earlier editions have raised more than ₹50 crore for the programme since the auction began in January 2019.

The PM Mementos Auction connects India’s cultural heritage with public participation and a national environmental mission.
