SECI Foundation Day Highlights Renewable Energy Growth
The SECI Foundation Day celebration marked 15 years of the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Yesso Naik attended the event as Chief Guest.
Naik highlighted SECI’s contribution to India’s renewable energy transition. He expressed confidence that the organisation will continue supporting the country’s clean energy vision.
SECI’s Renewable Energy Achievements
SECI Managing Director Akash Tripathi said the organisation will continue working with stakeholders and developing opportunities across the renewable energy sector.
The Stakeholders’ Meet included two thematic sessions. The first, “Reimagining Industry through Green Molecules,” examined green hydrogen and its derivatives. Discussions covered domestic production, applications, infrastructure, technology, financing and policy support.
The second session, “The Changing Energy Landscape: Distributed Renewables and New Energy Markets,” focused on distributed renewable energy. Participants discussed consumer participation, distributed energy resources and emerging market mechanisms.
Over 15 years, SECI facilitated the commissioning of more than 41 GW of renewable energy generation capacity through third-party developers. It also signed power sale agreements exceeding 67 GW with DISCOMs and consumers.
SECI has enabled cumulative market investments of about ₹3.6 lakh crore. The organisation is also expanding its own project portfolio and supporting energy storage, green hydrogen and related areas.
SECI was incorporated on 20 September 2011. It operates as a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. It initially served as the implementing agency for the National Solar Mission and later expanded across the renewable energy ecosystem.
